Todays online content world is packet with information. But the most engaging are the ones that are both educational and entertaining. In this post I am going to cover the framework that can be used for any format for online content.

Imagine sitting through a math class filled with nothing but numbers and operations. Sure there is a lot of information being covered, at the same time how much is comprehensible. Are you paying attention throughout the lesson and are you enjoying it? Probably not. A better way to teach something is by adding some context behind what is being covered. Examples of real world applications that will help one understand the value for what is being taught. Funny story or fact to can help people engage more with content that is difficult to digest.

On the flip side, put yourself sitting through a comedy show. The most entertaining ones are also filled with facts making you feel that you are getting something of value. Trevor Noah, John Oliver and are just a small example of delivering comedy with facts. To understand this framework better, lets break down a blog by Morgan Housel.

Morgan Housel is a highly regarded in the financial industry. He consistently writes about current events and interesting topics that not many talk about. He has the best analogies for complex subjects and delivers it all in an enjoyable way.

There’re countless examples on how educational content can become engaging and I will continue to create content like that in the future.

Some books that cover this topic include:

  1. Made to stick
  2. Thinking fast and slow
  3. The tipping point
  4. One page business plan
  5. Building a story brand
